Protea or Sugarbush - a South African plant thats loved by florists for its beautifully structured large flowers. They come in a wide range of colours, this one has blushes of deep pink-y red at the ends of its petals. They're a really ancient flower and have a number of myths and meanings associated with them, including symbolising diversity and courage.
The Protea is carefully drawn in pen and ink. I've added the colour and text digitally to create a glowing illustration of this special flower.
This listing is for a signed A5 giclee Protea print on lovely archival paper. It is unmounted, and comes safely wrapped in biodegradable cellophane ready for you to find the perfect frame.
This is the a twelfth flower print in a series of artworks for the Flower Power Fund, fundraising for Marie Curie. 40% of the sale price of each print will be donated to Marie Curie (registered charity number 207994 England & Wales, SC038731 in Scotland).
12 beautiful hand-dyed Flower Power knitting yarns are also being released for the Fund, one a month over the course of 2018, with some extra bonus yarns thrown in. Each yarn is inspired by a different flower and I am going to draw each of them to create more lovely prints.
