A raven perchs on a skeleton branch in front of a full moon. Frankenstein's Monster and his Bride run hand in hand under the moon's glow. In the foreground, a badgers sniffles at the ground, oblivious to the drama behind them. Along the bottom of the illustration an illuminated border shows three herbs - Aconite, Anemone and Wood Betony - to cast a spell of protection over the eloping lovers and the black and the creatures in the illustration.
I have always loved the story of Frankensteins' creations; monsters is the wrong word really isn't it? I wanted to imagine a story where they could run away to a happy ending. Perhaps they find others who understand them and accept who they are. Perhaps they live together quietly in the woods, surrounded by badgers, ravens and other creatures who are also misunderstood and persecuted....
This listing is for a signed A4 print on warm white archival paper, taken from my original illustration. It is unmounted, and comes safely backed on coloured recycled card, wrapped in biodegradable cellophane to protect it. It's pretty enough to be given as a gift as it is, or ready for you to find the perfect frame.
The print is part of a The Badger Sett - a collaboration between creative people fundraising for the UK's badgers. You can read more about the project and why they need our help here:http://www.samdrawsthings.co.uk/projects/the-badger-sett/
For each print sold, £4 goes to the Badger Trust's badger vaccination project, a positive alternative to the cull that has been happening across the UK.
